Solomon Islands Electoral Commission is planning to introduce Limited Preferential Voting for the 2023 national general election.
Since gaining independence from Britain in 1978, Solomon Islands has used the first-past-the-post voting system to elect its 50 parliamentarians.
But the chief electoral officer Mose Saitala says that system delivers winning candidates supported by only a small fraction of their electorates.
Mr Saitala told Koroi Hawkins that after studying electoral systems around the world he is leaning towards Limited Preferential Voting.
