Auckland has gone into lockdown for three days, after four positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in one family.
The prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, delivered the news at an impromptu news conference at parliament on Tuesday evening.
The Auckland family include one person who worked the night-shift at a cool store, another at a finance company and a child who went to school in Mt Albert.
Now, Auckland is in lock-down for at least three days, although essential businesses remain open. The rest of the country is at alert level 2.
