After well over a month in quarantine in New Zealand and Samoa and a final day and a half spent at sea the first group of Tokelauns to be repatriated since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic are finally on home soil and looking forward to spending Christmas with their families.
Some of the 33 people who are now undergoing yet another 14 day quarantine on their home atolls of Fakaofo and Nukunonu have been stuck in New Zealand since March.
I spoke with Tokelauan Journalist Elena Pasilio who is part of the group that got off at Nukunonu about their journey.
