The editor of the regional newsagency PACNEWS says payments from big tech companies like google and facebook would be of great benefit to struggling Pacific news organisations.
This comes after Facebook's decision to ban news content from Australia on its platform and news in general it would seem for Australian Facebook users.
The full extent and impact of this ban internationally is still undetermined.
But Makereta Komai told me for the Pacific it is huge.
