Despite the welcome arrival of more seasonal workers from the Pacific there are still fears of labour shortages in the horticulture and viticulture sectors in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The government has allowed hundreds of vaccinated workers from Samoa, Vanuatu and Tonga to skip Managed Isolation and Quarantine and work during their self-isolation period.
But even with that injection of labour, more than 5-thousand workers are needed across the country during the peak summer season starting next month.
