The Civil Aviation Authority in Vanuatu is investigating an Air Taxi plane crash that killed one person.

The aircraft carrying a pilot and four passengers crashed in Montmartre plantation Monday afternoon near the capital Port Villa.

A male passenger who was hospitalised on Monday, has died the morning after due to sustained injuries.

This is Air Taxi's second plane crash this year following its first in Sola, Vanualava Island, where the Minister of Finance, John Salong, was a passenger on board the aircraft.

Another incident occurred in January last year, but all five passengers walked away unharmed.

RNZ Pacific's Eleisha Foon spoke with Vanuatu Director of Tourism, Paul Pio about the tragedy.
