Horrific family violence is behind a fatal double shooting in Samoa which resulted in the death of a lead homicide detective on Monday.
Twenty officers are involved in a manhunt to try and find the gunman who shot and killed Detective Sergeant Peniamina Perite as he tried to arrest him in Fasitoo-Uta.
Deputy police commissioner, Papalii Monalisa, says there is shock and anger in the community, and they fear for the safety of the suspect, a 58-year-old farmer, who is hiding in dense bush.
Ms Monalisa says Detective Sergeant Perite was unarmed and investigating a fatal domestic dispute when he was shot.
