Pasifika church and community leaders in the Bay of Plenty are urging Pacific governments sending their citizens to participate in New Zealand's Recognised Seasonal Employer scheme to appoint spiritual leaders and liason officers to accompany them overeas.

Last week the first ever sports festival for Pacific RSE workers in the region was held at Mt Mauganui with hundreds of workers from a number of Pacific Island countries taking part.

RNZ Pacific senior sports journalist Iliesa Tora attended the event and spoke to stakeholders about some of the ongoing issues with the labour mobility scheme.
