Yesterday on the show we spoke to Dave Benscoter, a former FBI agent who uses his investigative skills to hunt down heritage apples in the US.
We got so much feedback on that, including from people telling us about various heritage apple projects happening in New Zealand. So we thought we'd talk Robyn Guyton, who is one of the people behind the Open Orchard Project, an Otago/Southland group dedicated to getting all the best heritage apples back into gardens and orchards around the region.
Robyn and her husband Robert have been seeking out heritage apples brought over by migrants from Europe and other places since the early 2000's and Robyn tells us how many unique species they've managed to save.
