Last night New Zealanders doing amazing work across a variety of fields and projects were honoured at the Kiwibank New Zealander of Year awards.
The 2023 winner of the title New Zealand of the year, Te Pou Whakaare o Aotearoa was named as Professor Rangi Mātāmua (Ngāi Tūhoe), who's been dubbed the man behind Matariki!
