In 2019 the Wellington based Malaghan Institute of Medical Research began trialing a ground breaking treatment, a locally developed CAR T-Cell therapy.
The results came out on Friday, and they are good! Half the patients were in complete remission three months after the trial.
Author, comedian and self-described genetically modified organism David Downs has spend the last four years working as an ambassador for the trial.
He speaks to Jesse from LAX airport, to give us the lowdown on his own personal cancer battle, the trial, and what happens next.
