From Afternoons, 1:14 pm today

A couple of weeks ago the first new Waka in over 100 years was launched onto te awa Kaituna. The river runs from Lake Rotoiti, and flows into the sea just south of Papamoa Beach. It was built at the Makahae marae by a team of 8. Overseen by Waka builder Haimona Brown. The project aims to reconnect people with te awa. They're already preparing to start work on the next build.

Jesse talks to two members of the build team: Haimona Brown & Josh Roberts.
