Dr John Hellemans has coached four Olympic triathletes and six world champions, including Erin Baker and Andrea Hewitt. Prior to his decades as a coach John was a fierce competitor himself, and now continues his long-standing career in sports medicine. He won six New Zealand open titles, eight World Masters Triathlon Championships, and represented us at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.
In 2020, all of this resulted in him being awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for his service to triathlon.
