AT THE MOVIES #932   GUYS AND DOLLS

Simon Morris looks at the most famous double feature of the year – the guys who invented the atom bomb in Oppenheimer and the doll that caused the almost as huge upheaval in the toy box – Barbie.

Barbie is a combination colourful romp – so long as it’s pink! – and feminist fable.  Stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, and written and directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird).

And Oppenheimer is the story of the man behind the atom bomb, who ended the Second World War and started the Cold one.   Written and directed by Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk), it stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Junior and Matt Damon.
