People in northern parts of the country could be in for a wild night, with strong winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted.
MetService has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Northland, Auckland, Great Barrier Island, Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato and Waitomo.
