Finance Minister Grant Robertson is hinting he's ready to spend up after unveiling the biggest Budget surplus in more than a decade.
The Reserve Bank has been strongly hinting that the government should spend more to help stimulate the economy and today's $7.5 billion surplus puts it in the position to do just that.
While the National Party has spent the last two years attacking the government over slumping business confidence - it has now doubled down, saying Mr Robertson is sitting on a stack of money instead of spending it on taxpayers.
