The fire at the site of the partially completed SkyCity Convention Centre has burned for more than 24 hours.
More than 100 firefighters have been fighting the blaze since early on Monday afternoon.
The cause is not yet known - but Fletcher Building confirmed that blowtorches were being used to seal part of the roof - in the area where the fire broke out.
