Level 1 as NZ Covid-19-free - Grant Robertson talks rules

From Checkpoint, 5:07 pm on 8 June 2020

In just under seven hours New Zealand will finally move to alert level 1, about 101 days since our first confirmed case of Covid-19.

From midnight Tuesday morning, social distancing is no more. You can order your own drinks at the bar, big weddings are back on, along with concerts and parties, and no more dancing by yourself.

It will no longer be compulsory for businesses to record customer details, but people are being asked to keep their own Covid-19 diaries, so they have a record of their contacts just in case.

The border is still tightly locked down. New Zealand's combined total of confirmed and probable cases remains at 1,504, with a total of 22 deaths.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the move to alert level 1 on Monday afternoon. Finance Minister Grant Robertson discusses the changes with Lisa Owen.
