Trade Minister urged to push NZ interests at European Union

There are calls for Trade Minister David Parker to muscle up to the European Union following a "disappointing" offer on free trade.

It's the first formal offer on the table but a far cry from what New Zealand wants.

Mr Parker has criticised the EU for taking a negative and protectionist approach, but the Opposition and industry leaders say he's got to sell the country's products better.
