Ardern defends long wait for trans-Tasman travel bubble

The wait to find out when the trans-Tasman bubble will open continues - with the government set to announce a date on April 6.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says while she knows what opening quarantine-free travel would mean for people, many New Zealanders are nervous and they need to be cautious.

She says a range of boxes need to be ticked before Cabinet will be satisfied the bubble can open.
