Most senior doctors, dentists in south facing burn-out

From Checkpoint, 5:46 pm on 29 March 2021

Almost two-thirds of senior doctors and dentists in Otago and Southland feel burnt out. It comes from a survey of 2,100 medical staff carried out by the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists as a follow-up to a similar one six years ago.

Health Minister Andrew Little says he appreciates health professionals are working really hard, and are under pressure.

He says the government has provided additional funding, and his ministry has a role in monitoring how the additional resources are being utilised.
