Australian tourism sector criticises federal Budget

Australia's tourism sector has slammed the federal government over its forecasts for the border reopening.

The Budget predicts the border will reopen in the middle of next year, but is based on the assumption the vaccine rollout will be done by the end of the year.

The tourism sector says it's being treated like a "second class citizen" and says businesses will go under if they have to wait that long for international visitors.

But Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says the estimates are "cautious" given how unpredictable Covid-19 is.
