The building industry's at breaking point - with soaring costs, supply shortages and a lack of builders. But with the Commerce Commission's final report on the sector due in December, it will not be until next year that the government responds.
In the report the Commission has given its assessment: the sector is not as competitive as it should be.
The watchdog has delivered a list of proposals, though stops short of any radical shake-up.
