Police have confirmed a man who died of gunshot wounds at a 50th birthday party in Lower Hutt on the weekend was a gang member, but they don't believe his death was "gang related".
Hutt Valley has been rocked by several violent deaths in recent weeks, including a police shooting in Wainuiomata, a hit-and-run, and the killing of Baby Ru.
