Ratepayers in Porirua are being told they'll have to pay more if they want their glass recycled.
Currently, glass is crushed and used in roading and drainage at the tip - rather than living to see another day.
It's because the city can't afford a sorting machine and so coloured glass would have to be sorted at the kerbside - which is expensive.
