Rhys Roberts, the chief executive of Align Farms, runs two farms on the south side of the Ashburton River.
He was one of the many farmers struck badly by torrential rain and subsequent floods in mid Canterbury this week.
Country Life caught up with him on Friday morning as he was waiting for diggers to arrive to help divert the river still surging through one of the properties.
