Flight Centre's CEO wants borders open despite Covid

From First Up, 5:51 am on 20 May 2021

Flight Centre's chief executive is standing by comments that we need to open international borders even though people will inevitably die as a result. Graham Turner made the comments in defence of Virgin Australia's chief Jayne Hrdlicka when she said "some people may die" but the borders should open as soon as possible. This has led to calls on social media for a boycott Virgin Australia, while Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called them insensitive. Our reporter Ella Stewart went to meet Graham Turner at an event in Auckland yesterday. She asked him about the company's financial position as a result of the borders being closed.
