China viewed more of threat than friend by NZers
Increasing numbers of New Zealanders are viewing China as a threat rather than a friend for the first time. At the same time, Kiwis are also feel closer to many Asian nations than before and are showing interest to learn more about them. That's among the findings of the Asia New Zealand Foundation's annual survey - New Zealanders' Perceptions of Asia and Asian Peoples 2020, which has been running for more than 20 years. Jason Young, who is the director at the New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre at Victoria University of Wellington, told our reporter Chen Liu the growing threat perception is concerning.
