Pregnant people should be priority for MiQ spaces
The Green Party is calling for pregnant women and their partners to be allowed to get emergency managed isolation spots rather than relying on the MIQ lottery as is currently the case. First Up has heard from a number of women either unable to get home to have their babies, or whose partners are stuck overseas and can't get MIQ spots so they can be here to support them. Green Party MP Julie Ann Genter, who's pregnant herself, has written to Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins asking him to extend the MIQ emergency application criteria to cover pregnant people and their partners. She spoke with our producer Matthew Theunissen.
