Despite sanctions, russian oligarch money probably still in NZ

A leading academic says it's likely that money from Russian oligarchs is still circulating in New Zealand, despite the sanctions on Vladimir Putin's regime. It comes as the government tries to introduce legislation that would make it mandatory for people to declare if they benefit from a company or trust here Senior associate at the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies Max Rashbrooke says the fact we don't already have such a register is among reasons we're a soft target for fraudsters and corrupt governments. So while New Zealand has imposed things like tarriffs on Russian imports and asset freezes for people associated with Putin's government, Nathan Rarere asked him how likely it is that there's still Russian money here that remains untouched by the sanctions.
