Pacific: huge ocean swells cause widespread flooding
A large cleanup operation is underway on several Pacific Islands after huge ocean swells caused widespread flooding, damaging homes and hotels over the weekend. A state of emergency was declared in American Samoa after waves swamped homes, a church, a school and key infrastructure. French Polynesia was battered by 8-9 metre swells, with roads and houses submerged in Tahiti. In the Cook Islands, some locals say they've never seen such huge seas before. One of them is Liana Scott who's president of the Cook Islands Tourism Industry Council and manager of the Muri Beach Club Hotel in Rarotonga.
