From First Up, 5:33 am on 25 May 2023

Rotuma is a tiny Pacific island - a Fijian protectorate - it's about 47 square kilometres in size with a resident population of around 15 hundred people. In a couple of weeks the Rotuman dance group RAKO will be performing as part of the Pacific Dance Festival. The shows are a way to showcase the uniqueness of their islands' dance and promote understanding of their culture. Ntahan Rarere spoke with Letila Mitchell who's the artistic director of Rako and asked her about Rotuma - the country and their language.
