The first rangatahi court in the Hawke's Bay is one step closer to becoming a reality. Community hui have been held in Napier and Hastings this week to establish a rangatahi court at Te Aranga marae in Flaxmere. There are 15 rangatahi courts across the country, which incorporate tikanga Maori, and have been credited with helping to reduce reoffending rates of young Maori. Kim Savage speaks to Hastings District Councillor Henare O'Keefe, who has been working behind the scenes to get the rangatahi court set up at his marae.
