To start the show comedian, producer and writer Melanie Bracewell joins Karyn to talk about her favourite songs. She has an eclectic choice of music she enjoys and what memories they bring back for her. She kicks off the daily Kiwi Rules feature talking about being on tinder, choosing clothes for her stand up performances and what it takes to be funny. Summer food is the theme for our first foodie on Karyn Hay and Friends. Award winning chef and food writer Julie Biuso is in the studio to talk about what to do with the abundance of corn and avocados around right now. She has some tips for a salad combining both ingredients as well as how to make an avocado drizzle to use on tacos. You can also follow her recipe for a delicious Green Tomato and Avocado salad.
2:25pm Entertainment with Dominic Corry
L.A based entertainment correspondent Dominic Corry is on the programme to talk about how the unpredictable Golden Globes results have thrown the Oscars race wide open. He talks about the reaction to the Globes and how he thinks it will impact on the Academy Awards nominations which are out next week. He's also going to run through a list of the most anticipated films of 2019.
2:40pm Lifestyle with Richard Beddie
Richard Beddie is the CEO of Exercise New Zealand. He talks about the benefits of getting into a good exercise routine in 2019 and what to do if you're really struggling to find the motivation to get moving. He also talks about issues of 2018 including at least one gym warning about over doing high intensity interval training and an incresase children signing up to gym memberships.
3:05pm Feature interview with Jolenta Greenberg and Kristen Meinzer
Jolenta Greenberg is comedian and Kristen Meinzer her skeptical friend who embark on an experiment to follow the rules in a number of self-help books. They have turned their efforts into a podcast called By the Book which charts their fortunes following the advice in a variety of self help books on offer. They talk about the highs and lows of living by the book.
