10:20 The biggest benefit rise in a generation

Today's Budget has announced changes that will increase benefits by 32 to 55 dollars a week by next April as part of changes that the Government says is a way of addressing inequality that has built up over 30 years. It also predicts up to 33,000 children will be lifted out of poverty with the changes announced today. Karyn Hay speaks asks the Salvation Army's Director of Social Policy and Parliamentary Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Ian Hutson for his response.

Tonight we're going back to 1901 to something that can't help but give you a chuckle in today's high octane world.  Nicholas Oates was the first person to import a car into New Zealand. It was a Benz - and safe to say, at its top speed it struggled to top 14 miles per hour. It still got him into trouble though. Motoring historian,  John McCrystle chats to Karyn about the very first car crashes, speeding tickets and other motoring offences.
