Almost 250 years to the day since James Cook saw the transit of Mercury across the sun, while anchored in New Zealand waters - and it's happening again - tonight.
A group of enthusiasts are gathering to watch it happening and hoping the cloud will clear so they canĀ view the transit of Mercury from the same spot Cook would have watched it. Tonight's organiser is the director of Otago Museum, Dr Ian Griffin, who speaks with Karyn from Cooks Beach, Mercury Bay, on the Coromandel Peninsula.
