Plastic Cup Use in Councils

From Lately, 10:30 pm on 26 November 2019

Around the country, many councils are grappling with how to deal with the effects of climate change ... while sipping their water from tens of thousands of single use plastic cups. Councils bought close to 120,000 plastic cups last financial year.

The figures were uncovered by journalist Chloe Ranford who is one of 8 reporters in regional newsrooms for the Local Democracy Reporting Service. She's based in Marlborough and tells Karyn what she found out.

Climate Karanga Marlborough member Budyong Hill says it's good that councils are cutting down on single-use plastic cups.
