The Ashburton River/ Hakatere Bridge is reopening for light traffic. The bridge was closed this morning due to flood damage after heavy rain caused flooding in Canterbury. Testing was carried out on the bridge this evening to see if it was safe. Meanwhile closed roads in the region have blocked key delivery routes. Suppliers have been figuring out alternative ways to make sure goods can make it further south. The mayor of Ashburton Neil Brown and Nick Leggett chief executive of the Road Transport Forum give an update.
