A Māori social service provider and a senior Waitematā District Health Board advisor - both who are members of the Maori Party - claim they've stopped Oranga Tamariki taking newborn babies from their mothers.

Dozens of members from Te Whānau o Waipareira gathered outside the hospital this morning, intending to stop what they say would have been the removal of two infants.
