Widespread snowfalls continue to impact parts of the South Island, while wind warnings are in place for parts of the lower east coast of the North Island.
Seven Highways remain shut and warnings are in place for major roads heading to Invercargill, Alexandra, Te Anau, Wanaka and Queenstown.
People are being asked to avoid or delay travel in Southland and Otago due to the conditions, while farmers in those regions expect stock losses following the heavy snowfall.
