The Māori Party co-leader, Rawiri Waititi, says Brian and Hannah Tamaki fleeing Auckland's lockdown for Rotorua sets a bad example.
At a church service in Rotorua on Sunday, the couple admitted leaving the city hours before restrictions were imposed.
Rawiri Waititi is Te Paati Māori co-leader and MP for Waiariki, which encompasses Rotorua.
He told Māni Dunlop it is frustrating to see people flee Tāmaki Makaurau before a lockdown begins and it puts the community at risk.
