Security guards not yet considered at emergency accommodation

The government has not considered using security guards at emergency motel accommodation, according the Social Development Minister. This morning, RNZ reported families in emergency motel accommodation in Rotorua were witnessing drug deals and violence. Official documents show ministers were warned a year ago that "low end" emergency motel accommodation was a risk to public safety.  The Minister for Social Development Carmel Sepuloni told Meriana Johnsen emergency accommodation options remain limited, but the government was trying to improve supply.
