St John Ambulance responded to 30 percent more mental health call outs for people under fourteen in 2021 than in 2020.
More mental health call outs occured across all age groups, a 36 percent increase on the previous year.
St John deputy chief executive of ambulance operations Dan Ohs told Māni Dunlop there had been a large increase in 111 calls.
