European Union's ambassador to NZ on Ukraine

From Midday Report, 12:43 pm on 5 April 2022

Russia is facing widespread condemnation as more evidence emerges of civilian killings in northern and eastern Ukraine, where a mass grave, and the bodies of people tied up and shot at close range were found in a town formerly occupied by Russian forces.

New Zealand yesterday placed sanctions on a further 36 people connected to President Putin and his administration but for now, the Russian Ambassador is allowed to remain in Wellington. The Ambassador has rejected multiple requests for interviews with RNZ.

The European Union's ambassador to New Zealand, Her Excellency Nina Obermaier spoke to Max Towle about the difficult choices Europe needs to make.
