Wellington City Council's buildings manager on safety

The Wellington City Council's buildings manager, Mike Scott, says the owner of the Asteron Building  had been "prudent, practical and sensible".
He said there was no significant hazard to public safety and it appeared the damage to the Asteron Centre was more superficial than structural. Mr Scott said it was acceptable for a building to be declared safe and then unsafe in a matter of days.
