Great Kererū Count takes flight

Social media features heavily this year in the hunt for our native pigeon, the kereru. The annual Great Kereru Count has begun and continues until next weekend - encouraging people all over the country to register their kereru sightings. Preservation society WWF chief executive Livia Esterhazy says the group wants a better picture of the state of the species, where they thrive and where their favourite hangouts are.
