Dunedin fire forces 100 homes to be evacuated

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 1 February 2018

At least 100 homes in Dunedin were evacuated yesterday after a huge fire tore through buildings and vegetation in the suburb of Burnside.

The affected area is largely industrial but emergency services evacuated people from nearby neighbourhoods, as the strong winds were blowing embers onto properties and causing flare-ups. Fire and Emergency New Zealand incident controller Phil Marsh joins Guyon Espiner with the latest details.
