Serena Williams fined in US Open final - analysis
US tennis star, Serena Williams, has been fined US$17,000 for her three code violations in her final at the US Tennis Open. Williams lost the Open Final to Naomi Osaka amid unprecedented scenes of acrimony and anger. The 23 times Grand Slam champion was handed three code violations by the umpire, Carlos Ramos. She called him a thief and a liar. At a news conference afterwards, she said the umpire's actions amounted to sexism. The trophy ceremony saw both women in tears.
