World-record perfomance by Black Cap Tom Latham
A world-record performance by opener Tom Latham has put the Black Caps firmly in charge of the first test against Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve. When New Zealand's first innings ended on 578, Latham was not out on 264. It was the sixth-highest score ever by a New Zealander and the highest score in test cricket history for an opening batsmen unbeaten at the end of an innings. He was only the second New Zealander to achieve the rare feat -- the other was Glenn Turner who did it twice -- in 1969 and 1972.
