Christchurch reacts as police carry guns
In a rare departure from long-standing New Zealand policing practice, all front-line officers in Canterbury will be carrying sidearms from Friday. It follows two related incidents in Christchurch - one on Saturday, and one on Tuesday - in which officers were shot at. All frontline police have firearms in their vehicles, but they will also be carrying them in a holster. Katie Todd spoke to residents.
